Yarn Yarn

Pure silk runners. Ribbon yarn with a difference.

| /

We have been working with our artisans in India to produce these beautiful runner yarns. Pure silk ribbon handwoven into beautiful runners. Approx 2 inches wide.

Production process:

First sari silk fabric is made into sari silk ribbon.

The ends of the ribbon are all stitched to form a yarn.

The silk is then dyed into selected colours. After dying it is woven on a handloom. Warp is silk noil and the weft is sari silk. The fabric is then rolled and cut.

All our products are made in rural India by women and dyed by the families. Yarns and fibres are all dried on the rooftops of their homes. Producing these yarns is the only source of income within these communities. By providing these spinning opportunities and the sale of the yarns we keep ancient traditions alive. We provide work in a socially responsible environment where no child labour is involved.

We work directly with these women and families developing new colours and yarns from waste materials that would otherwise be destroyed!

These strips of silk handloom ribbon are approx 2 inches wide. 100g bundles.

Suitable for quilting, fibre arts, weaving, embroidery details. These runners will really get your creative juices flowing. Please send images with all your textile projects using them. I would love to see!
