Welcome to By the Fire, my hand-knit and crocheted collection made slowly and thoughtfully in my studio in St Andrews (by that I mean by fire in the lounge). Each piece is crafted with soft, non-itch Norwegian wool, chosen for comfort and longevity. Rooted in traditional stitches yet shaped by modern silhouettes, the collection plays with bold block colourways and expressive crochet. These are garments and accessories made to be worn, cherished, and kept—slow fashion in every sense.

I’ve decided to open a knitwear section here at Yarn Yarn so you can see—and if you wish, purchase—some of the designs I normally create on a commission basis. Alongside my sustainable yarns, I also run a fashion design practice under @juliecolquittart, where I focus on crochet and slow, sustainable fashion.

Over the years, my work has found its way onto the catwalk and some lovely opportunities have thus come my way, including two of my own shows at New York Fashion Week. Pieces I’ve created have been worn by a range of celebrity clients and have appeared in outlets such as Vogue, WWD, Billboard, Netflix’s Selling Sunset, and at events like the Oscars, Grammys, and Emmys, as well as Miami Swim Week and music videos. It’s been a wonderful journey—one I’m excited to share here with you.
