Cotton Khadi yarn is not just another cotton yarn — it is part of a living movement. Made from rare, pure cotton, this yarn is organic, chemical-free, and unbelievably soft.

Our organic cotton is grown and spun in the same villages where it is harvested. Farmers and spinners work side by side, and no pesticides are used in the growing process. The yarn is handspun by a group of skilled village women in India, supporting rural livelihoods and traditional craftsmanship. The result is a beautifully balanced worsted-weight cotton that is a true pleasure to work with.

This yarn dyes exceptionally well and has a silky softness that is unlike any other cotton. It is light, breathable, and luxurious in the hand.

The khadi movement was started by Mahatma Gandhi in the 1920s to encourage self-reliance and independence from foreign textiles. By promoting handspinning on the charkha, Gandhi supported rural employment—especially for women—and helped build a sustainable, community-based textile tradition that continues today. Yarn Yarn is proud to support and promote this legacy.

When doubled, this cotton creates stunning sweaters, hats, shawls, throws, and other heirloom pieces. Perfect for knitting, crochet, or weaving, it is ethical, sustainable, and truly artisan-made.
