Crafted from remnant silk sari fabric, which has been transformed into ribbon yarn and meticulously hand-twisted into hammed cord. Each strand carries the beauty and history of reclaimed silk, resulting in a richly textured, sustainable material with a distinctive artisanal quality.

Sari silk ribbon is a by-product of traditional silk sari manufacturing in India. These beautiful yarns are handmade and hand-dyed by women's co-operatives in rural India, using pure silk remnants that might otherwise be discarded and sent to landfill.

The silk waste is carefully reclaimed and transformed into these richly textured, vibrant yarns, giving new life to a precious natural fibre. I have sourced these yarns directly from women's co-operatives for many years, using them extensively in my own textile art and wearable creations. Their unique character, sustainability, and handcrafted quality make them one of my favourite materials to work with.

Beautifully recycled and environmentally conscious, this unique yarn is ideal for slow stitching, basket weaving, Kumihimo braiding, loom weaving, knitting, crochet, mixed-media textiles, and a wide range of fibre arts. Full of colour, texture, and artisanal charm, it allows you to create with purpose, adding an ethical and sustainable edge to your projects. This yarn is also suitable for dying.
