Recycled Sari Silk Ribbon Yarn – Turquoise Blue
A glorious mix of turquoise, aqua and ocean blue, this recycled sari silk ribbon yarn is full of colour, texture and character.
Each skein is handmade in India using reclaimed sari silk remnants, transforming beautiful leftover fabrics into a wonderfully tactile ribbon yarn. The strips are cut and joined by hand before being gathered into skeins, creating a yarn that changes subtly as you work with it. You’ll find variations in shade, texture, width and fabric throughout — that beautiful irregularity is part of what makes sari silk ribbon so special.
I have sourced these yarns directly from women’s groups and small producers in India for many years, supporting traditional skills and providing an alternative use for textile remnants that might otherwise go to waste.
This chunky textile yarn is fabulous for crochet, knitting, weaving, macramé, rug making, basket making, textile art, wall hangings and mixed-media fibre projects. It’s also wonderful for adding bold strips of colour and texture to more experimental work.
Details:
• 1 × 100g skein
• Approx. 40 metres
• Recycled sari silk fabric
• Handmade in India
• Turquoise, teal and blue mixed shades
• Each skein is completely individual
Because this is made from reclaimed saris, no two skeins will ever be exactly alike. Your skein will have its own combination of blues, fabrics, textures and occasional contrasting details. The photographs are therefore a guide rather than an exact representation of every skein.
Care: Hand wash gently in cold water with a light detergent and lay flat to dry.
A beautiful, colourful yarn for makers who love unusual fibres, recycled textiles and materials with a story.
